Will Sun Elixir cause endocrine disruption?
All SDF products are intended to work with your body. Each formulation has been carefully selected to avoid endocrine disrupting chemicals. We want you to look good and feel great.
Can I use Sun Elixir by itself on high sun exposure days?
Sun Elixir is designed to be a complimentary product. If you don’t have a high level of melanin naturally, or from prior sun exposure, you can pair Sun Elixir with traditional sunscreen on high sun exposure days.
Traditional American sunscreens are effective at blocking or filtering UVB rays (~5% of the sun’s rays that reach earth), the rays that cause sunburns.
The FDA has not fully approved a new sunscreen ingredient since 1996 and American sunscreens are minimally effective in filtering UVA rays (~95% of the sun’s rays that reach earth), the rays that cause the most damage to collagen and elastin.
Sun Elixir provides additional UVA protection at the deeper layer of the dermis to reduce skin sagging and aging.
Sun Elixir is perfect for daily use under makeup, or by itself on lower exposure days.
What is the SPF content of Sun Elixir?
SPF or Sun Protection Factor is a term regulated in the United States by the FDA. Sun Elixir is not an SPF. Sun Elixir provides additional UVA filtering. It is not a significant source of UVB filtering. See our blogs for more information.

What is melanin?
Melanin is the substance that gives our skin color, or pigment. It resides primarily in the basil layer of the epidermis. That is, the outer layer of the skin.
Melanin protects the skin from UV radiation. That’s why people with darker skin can stay in the sun longer without adverse effects.
Ideally, a light skin person would boost their melanin levels gradually and naturally with progressive sun exposure, while minimizing obvious over exposure–sunburn–and filtering the longer UVA rays that accelerate aging at the deeper level of the dermis.
Does the Barrier Balm contain petroleum products?

Will Skin Silk make my skin shiny or leave an oily residue?
Skin Silk applied to dry skin will indeed increase shine until it’s absorbed. We love appling Skin Silk to wet skin after a shower or face wash, and then dabbing skin to remove excess water. You’ll see a healthy muted sheen afterwards.
Can Skin Silk replace moisturizer?
Absolutely, Skin Silk helps lock in moisture and keeps your skin soft and supple for hours.
Can I combine Sun Elixir with sunscreen?
We highlight healthy sun time in our blogs, but you can absolutely use Sun Elixir with your favorite sunscreen if you desire.
